Stardust Sandbox v1.2.0.0 - Elements & Interactions Update
Hello, everyone!
It’s time to announce the release of v1.2.0.0, the Assets and Interactions Update! This version is packed with new content, exciting mechanics, and several improvements aimed at enhancing your overall gameplay experience. With this update, you’ll have more tools, materials, and interactions to explore in the sandbox.
🆕 What’s New?
New Elements
This update introduces a variety of new elements that open up creative and experimental possibilities. Here’s what’s been added:
- Clone: Generates other elements infinitely when in contact until destroyed or removed.
- Oil: A highly flammable liquid element, perfect for experiments involving fire.
- Bomb: Explodes when activated, spreading flames, smoke, and destroying nearby elements.
- Sponge (dry/wet): Absorbs water in a 3x3 area when dry and releases it when heated.
- Void: Absorbs and destroys everything it touches.
- Ash: Residue left from burned materials, with a grainy texture.
- Gold: A shiny, malleable yellow metal for decorative purposes.
- Heater: A block that constantly heats neighboring elements.
- Freezer: A block that constantly freezes neighboring elements.
- Salt: Salt crystals obtained by evaporating salt water.
- Salt Water: A liquid that can be evaporated to produce salt or used for chemical reactions.
⚙️ Key Features
This update also introduces some new mechanics and enhancements:
- Explosive elements now interact with varying levels of blast resistance.
- Gases and liquids behave more realistically with added convection.
- Refined handling of heat transfer, freezing, and liquid/gas movement.
- Tools and icons were updated, and issues with erasing background elements were fixed.
- All new elements and their descriptions are fully localized.
🛠 Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed an issue where Void consumed Clone unexpectedly.
- Updated Oil’s appearance for better visual clarity.
- Improved the behavior of liquids and gases for a smoother interaction experience.
- The “Pen” tool now works as intended with background elements.
- Refactored and cleaned up code for better maintainability.
- The movement of gases was standardized and they have the characteristic of spreading.
🔍 Notes
While this update includes a lot of exciting changes, some features, like the lighting system, remain experimental and have been temporarily removed for further refinement. Stay tuned for future updates as we continue to build on these systems!
